First Week of School & What's Next

Greetings Chargers!

It was a great week in K-1 Physical Education!  By the end of next week, all classes will have listened to the story of Slow Poke Joe and had a Socratic discussion.  This story is packed with lessons in friendship, perseverance, sacrifice, teasing, setting a goal, generosity, and gratitude.

This week all students began working on the locomotor skills of walking, hopping, and jumping.  Next week I will introduce galloping, skipping, and sliding to the students.  These skills provide the foundation for many activities and sports students will learn this year.  Specifically, next week the locomotor skills will be incorporated into games such as tag.

Please be sure to have your child wear tennis shoes on P.E. days.

Below is a reminder about Curriculum Night.  I hope to see you there!

Welcome to K-1 Physical Education!

Greetings Chargers!

Welcome to the Kindergarten & First Grade Physical Education blog!  My name is Tiffany Steinmann, and I am delighted to be returning for my second year at Archway Arete.  It is my pleasure to get another year to coach the returning students and to get to know the incoming families.

This will be my ninth year teaching, with experience in the classroom teaching kindergarten through second grade as well as teaching K-5 Physical Education.  I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Movement Science with an emphasis in Elementary Education.  There, I also completed graduate coursework and earned an endorsement in Early Childhood Education.

I have a passion for living an active and healthy lifestyle, and look forward to sharing my enthusiasm with my students.  One of my goals is for students to love being active through play, fitness, and sports, and to carry that excitement for a lifetime of healthy living!

Please remember to send your child to school with the appropriate athletic shoes on P.E. days, and a water bottle so that your child can remain hydrated throughout the day.  The P.E. blog will be updated each time a new unit begins.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me via email.

Thanks for checking in!

Summer

Greetings Chargers!

This year your student learned so much!  From locomotor skills, bowling, and basketball, to food groups, team building games, and muscle groups, your child has learned a wealth of new skills and information.  It is my desire that your child may have tried something new, or found a love for an activity they tried in the past that they can latch onto for a season or a lifetime of being physically activity!  Have a healthy and active summer!  See you in August!

All the best,

Coach Steinmann
